Project brief: Client wanted a space that would be less on maintenance and yet look luxurious. Our approach was to just add few elements that would balance the function “which was mainly storage wherever possible” and make it look stylish easy to maintain and does not overwhelm with the view of Arey colony that was visible from every window.
Project approach room wise:
Foyer and Kitchen: We wanted an arrival statement at the same site the kitchen was part of the space. We choose not to add the door to make the foyer to cramp but instead we tried to make the space part of each other, yet each space had its own identity. We choose a light satvario looking tile for the entire house so each room blends with another and still have its own character. It this case the flooring also was the dado so kitchen does not come out overwhelming and dressy and kill the foyer vibe which is a narrow space adorned by blue wall on one side. By avoiding the door the “colonial blue” becomes the feature space when you are in kitchen.
Living Room: The entire living room is wrapped in the silver grey with the blue sofa and dining chairs with a black dining table top to offset form the grey and white tones of the shell and again it relates with the blue of the foyer so there is a disconnect but still some connection in a contrasting way and the language of the entire space is maintained and not overwhelmed the greens outside.
Daughter’s Bedroom: The room brief was to refrain anything that is closer to any teen age bedrooms that pops in any search engine. We have a strong list of requirements which made the whole design. the daughter has a proud collection from Asterix to Percy Jackson to any reading material related to space. We knew she loves coding, and she requested a large whiteboard to doodle and scribble anything that’s on her mind and hence the wardrobe shutters were back painted white to manage that with a low height platform bed pushed to the wall making more than half of the room free to entertain her friends and give her free space for yoga. The door of the room was moved closer to the center so there was a space to accommodate 9’0’’ long study table which balanced the space for a gaming console and a laptop for regular school. The study wall was finished with a special magnetic putty and then painted over so usually it looked like a regular wall. The bed headboard was deliberately deep to house as many books possible.
Master Bedroom: The need was to fit a large wardrobe space with a full dresser a study and still make the space bright and airy. To manage the same the entire storage and the dresser was camouflaged in white with handless details, so it does not stand out and the only dominant wall is the bed which was washed with a soothing mystic lake blue and dark bed and side table extending with a study space. The study wall was with a custom frame with blank spaces for the couple to add their own stories and notes to each other.
The best room have something to say about the people who live in them
