Nestled in Mumbai, this newly completed residence for a family of five was designed to evoke a sense of belonging the moment one steps inside. The brief was simple—create a home that is easy on the eyes, warm, and inviting, ensuring that every space resonates with the feeling of “we are home.”
Wrapped in a serene palette of greige, the interiors are punctuated with vibrant color pops, adding depth and energy to the space. The home’s expansive window openings frame the breathtaking views of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, layered with the Western Expressway. Our design approach prioritized maintaining these views, allowing natural light to flood the interiors, enhancing the bright and airy atmosphere.
The living room embraces a neutral backdrop, accented with warm wooden tones. A striking teal sofa takes centre stage, complemented by a neutral printed armchair. The feature wall is clad in a dyed burl veneer from Spaceone Veneers, adding organic texture and richness. The custom dining table, an interplay of a tiled top and a textured base, achieves a monolithic aesthetic in an economical yet stylish manner.
The parents’ room incorporates a dedicated altar for Shrinathji, blending tradition with a contemporary sensibility. By allowing space to breathe between classic and modern elements, the room achieves a harmonious balance, creating a serene retreat.
For the master suite, the vision was to craft a personal sanctuary where both clients could unwind. A folding study desk was introduced to maintain an open, free-flowing passage, catering to the occasional need for a workspace without compromising spatial fluidity. Open shelves were strategically incorporated to display books while keeping the room visually light and clutter-free. The study wall, designed with a playful edge, is balanced by a warm wooden-toned bed using Euro laminate exudes simplicity and relaxation. The wardrobe, detailed with laminate drips, adds a subtle yet sophisticated textural play to the space.
The children’s bedroom was designed to be playful yet timeless, avoiding overtly ‘kiddish’ elements. A single bed was tucked into a corner, maximizing open space for movement and creativity. To encourage personalization, a peg wall and back-painted glass shutters—doubling as a whiteboard—allow for evolving expressions of individuality. Storage was carefully considered, with an open niche dedicated to essentials like a school bag and accessible drawers for the young occupant’s daily use. A soft boucle headboard, which also functions as a pinboard, introduces a tactile warmth, while a thoughtfully positioned terra light enhances the space, serving both as a reading light and a playful design element.
Throughout the residence, our approach was to create a space that feels like a deep breath of calmness. By balancing simplicity with thoughtful details, tradition with modernity, and functionality with aesthetics, the home achieves a timeless appeal—one that is both effortless and deeply personal to its inhabitants.
